The Dean of QAPO, Professor Jerry John Kponyo revealed that many officers take up the role without adequate training for the office. The training is therefore one of the many interventions to ensure that Examination Officers are well resourced for the work they do at their various departments for the University.

In his welcome address, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo, congratulated the Examination Officers for the hard work in ensuring the results presented to the Academic Board for approval are accurate, thus, maintaining the integrity of KNUST certificates.

Professor Owusu-Dabo noted that ‘‘Examination Officers and the Audit Team are major stakeholders in the work we do as a University. They are at the heart of all our processes, however, as a result of the enormity of the task involved in manning the office, many colleagues shy away from it.’’ To this end, he stated that the training was designed to enhance the capacity of both new and existing Examination Officers.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor further tasked the Audit Team to come up with a handbook to serve as a guide for all Examination Officers

Professor Gariba Akanwariwiak, Chairman of the Audit Team took participants through ‘Examination Result Processing.’ He mentioned that to ensure smooth processing of results, students must be properly registered for a cluster of courses at the beginning of each semester, and results should be displayed on students’ portals, KNUST websites and notice boards at the end of the semester.

He also stressed the need for examination results to be audited to ensure high integrity in the process leading to the award of degrees.
